Christmas is around the corner. It's that time of year when we're bombarded more than ever with messages to "buy, buy, buy!" The pressure to give gifts can reduce people to buying stuff just to have something to show a caring attitude. It's a privilege to give and receive gifts, and it's an honorable Christmas tradition. How, though, can we give to others with integrity, knowing there is great need in the world? How can we give with compassion, knowing that what we buy can perpetuate unfair labor in other parts of the world? And how can we give gifts with good conscience, when we know that it further embeds our culture of consumerism?
Join us for this December dinner and discussion as we talk about how to give responsibly.
As with all dinner and discussions: it's potluck style! Bring a dish for others to share. We'll enjoy the meal, and engage in dialogue over an important topic. Civility, openness, respect, and an ear for listening are all highly encouraged. If you are unable to provide some food, come anyway! Group size is limited to 12 people, so make sure to sign up by making contact with us. We'll share the address of the gathering at that time, too, just so you don't have to guess the whereabouts (we're thoughtful that way).
To sign up just send Charis a form submission on the website. There will be new people so if this is your first Echoes event you won't be alone! We hope you can join.
