Volunteer Extravaganza: Old Village Trail

Old Village Trail connects Elizabeth Park with Maritime Heritage Park. It needs some love and care! Bellingham Parks and Rec is setting us up with all the equipment and know-how that we need to do some weeding and mulching along this important greenway.

And why is it an extravaganza? Because Echoes is being joined in this project by some fellow upstart communities of faith! Newer churches in Seattle, and Skagit county are sending some people north to lend their hands and companionship to improve this Bellingham trail.

Before we start the work we'll enjoy a picnic lunch together, then don the gloves and pull out the tools for the restoration endeavors. Work and play is sublime on a summer's day (yes, we just made that up).

11:30am: Meet up with everyone at Elizabeth Park for a potluck/picnic lunch (we hope to put up the Echoes banner so we're easy to spot)

1:30pm: begin work at the trail. Location is the trail at H Street, where it intersects with Bancroft. We'll work for two hours, which should be enough time to finish the block we've been assigned.

The work itself involves clearing out invasive species, and placing mulch around the native plants that remain. All tools - and gloves! - are provided by Bellingham Parks and Rec.

Come help make Bellingham better, while also connecting with a larger group of people who are experimenting with newer ways of being/doing church. Feel free to join for only the picnic or only the work party. All are welcome!
