Yoga @ the RE Store

Yoga as worship? You bet.

By seeking to connect our body, mind, and spirit, yoga can be an excellent way to encounter God. For a lot of the history of the church the body has been seen as weak, antithetical to the spirit, and, quite simply, a nuisance.

One of the problems with this understanding is that it ignores the fact that Jesus chose to inhabit a human body, and continue to inhabit a body after he rose from the dead! He didn't seem to think it was bad at all.

Absolutely all sizes and abilities welcome.

Would Jesus do yoga? Maybe. He certainly practiced prayer, which is one way of looking at yoga - praying with the whole body.

Our instructor for this night is Lucia, a yoga-teaching nurse practitioner who also happens to be an Echoes person.

Maybe next time we'll go to the beach...

Maybe next time we'll go to the beach...

We'll be meeting in the large upstairs meeting room of the RE Store (2309 Meridian, at the intersection of Meridian and Broadway). If you haven't been here before, go up the outside stairs that you can see from the back parking lot at the store - we're on the second floor and you can't miss us.

The room is carpeted. If you have a yoga mat, please feel free to bring it. From beginner to expert, flexible to can-barely-touch-knees-let-alone-toes, all will enjoy this exercise and time of quiet reflection. Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in.

Send us a message if you have any questions!
