Flexible 4th: Lake Padden contemplative quiet

This week we are going to take advantage of summer weather and head to Lake Padden for some contemplative quiet. Blaise Pascal said, "All [people's] miseries derive from not being able to sit quiet in a room alone." It can be really hard to be alone and quiet! And yet, when we slow down, sit in the present moment, and listen, really listen, we can tap into things inside of us that need to be attended to. Or, we can simply become more aware of things around us, allowing us to better connect with the life that is all around us, all the time. Jesus did this quite a bit, and if he needed it, then just maybe it can help us?

After a bit of introduction/explanation we'll go off on our own for a time of quiet and reflection. About an hour later we'll regroup and swap stories about what we felt and/or experienced.

Meet at the shelter near the playground (and restrooms) at Lake Padden. On the map it is near the basketball court, not over by the beach. Click here to see the map!

All are welcome, even if this sounds really weird. We are by no means experts in contemplation, come be a novice with us novices!
