Each month Echoes hosts a monthly gathering in which we invite a member from the larger Bellingham community to share about their life - why are they here? what are they doing to make life better here in the ‘ham? how can we learn from them? This month’s guest is Summer Starr!

Summer identifies as one who has had her heart broken open by the world. Having ended up in a mental hospital after her first trip to India, she dedicated much of her early career to nonprofit work in some of the poorest communities in the world and this work opened her to the grit and the glory of this complex world of ours. As a sensitive and empath, she works with this spiritually deep connection to the human and non-human world to weave healing and poignant grace into her life and the lives of those she has the gift of calling part of her web of relations.

Summer is actively addressing homelessness in Bellingham by working as the volunteer coordinator for the Opportunity Council, and is on the board of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). She has a powerful story, combined with a personality that seeks to be a change-maker.

The event is free and open to all; donations are welcome.

Location is the Old Parish Hall, 2116 Walnut St, which is made possible by St Paul’s Episcopal Church

A variety of snacks will be available; feel free to contribute!
