Coast Salish/Indigenous People's Day - Online

Coast Salish Peoples Day 2020.png

We will gather on zoom for our yearly celebration of Coast Salish/Indigenous People’s Day.

Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday that celebrates and honors Native American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures. It is celebrated across the United States on the second Monday in October as an alternative to Columbus Day. In Bellingham, Coast Salish Day, was made an official holiday in 2015.

We are privileged to share this land with the Coast Salish People and every time we gather we honor their true partnership with the earth through a Land Acknowledgement. On this yearly gathering we would typically have a potluck with sharing of food & story, and spend time in conversation, but with COVID-19 still putting our health & safety at risk, we will gather on zoom for worship.

We will hear traditional stories, honor Native voices, and learn what we can do as allies in this work of honoring all of Creation.

Stay tuned for more details.
