What is the connection between spirituality and the arts? This monthly event explores this important question, and offers an opportunity to engage our own creativity in a worshipful setting.
One of our core values at Echoes is Deep Listening. So we will explore this theme creatively by deeply listening to some of our largest non human neighbors here in the Pacific Northwest, the Orca. Orcas communicate via echolocation utilizing a series of clicks, sounds and songs. Now more than ever the orcas need us to hear them as their populations continue to struggle in the face of human intrusion and devastation. Together we will listen to their sounds and allow them to inform our own creative process utilizing expressive line & form drawings.
(Think of it as collaborating with an orca to create art!)
By utilizing our sense of hearing, we can open ourselves up to a listening that can inform our creative expression. Echolocation is an advanced form of communication is beautiful and also allows us to realize how limited our own forms of communication can be. This will be an experiential gathering, so come with open ears and an open mind!
Creative Church is free and open to all! Materials will be provided.(We would welcome a $1-5 donation to help cover the cost of the supplies and support the work of Creative Church!)
We believe that we are created in the image of the creator and artistic practices can be a spiritual experience of creation, of freedom, and of messiness. All levels of artistic engagement are welcome!
