Typically Echoes meets once a month for ‘hamster church, where we have a casual, fun interview with a local ‘hamster to get to know a neighbor and learn from them. Times are anything but typical, however!
Instead of gathering in person, we shall gather online for a virtual conversation with one or two experts in their field who can speak to the medical reality of the pandemic, and how we can cope with it practically, emotionally and socially.
Our panelists:
Josh Whaley, LICSW, is a Behavioral Health Consultant at Unity Care NW. He has almost two decades of counseling experience, including Crisis Intervention and Behavioral Health Consulting. Josh is primarily interested in reducing the emotional suffering of others through presence and compassion.
Dr Jennie McLaurin, MD MPH MA, is a board certified pediatrician with over 30 years of health care experience serving children, marginalized communities, immigrants and special needs groups. With additional training in public health, bioethics and theology, her work includes practicing, writing, teaching and speaking. She is an expert consultant for the US Health Resources and Services Administration, a medical director of two clinics in WA state, a writer for the National Association of Community Health Centers, and an author of an upcoming book on healing.
Both of these individuals have incredibly important insights and helpful knowledge to share.
Our conversation will be through Zoom, an online video communications platform. All you will need to do is CLICK ON THIS LINK to join the conversation. If Zoom is new to you, just follow the instructions to get started. Note: if you’re using a smartphone to access this conversation, you will need to have downloaded Zoom onto your phone.
True to ‘hamster church tradition, there will be opportunity for Q & A at the end.
If you have questions about how to manage all the anxiety around COVID-19, make sure to be near your computer or phone this Monday evening and tune in!
