POSTPONED Hamster Church featuring Betsy Sauther

NOTE: Due to the coronavirus pandemic we are postponing this particular ‘Hamster Church - but we expect that Betsy will be rescheduled later in 2020!! Thanks for understanding, and keep a watch on this website for the alternative Echoes gathering on Apr. 20!!

Each month Echoes hosts a monthly gathering in which we invite a member from the larger Bellingham community to share about their life - why are they here? what are they doing to make life better here in the ‘ham? how can we learn from them?

April’s guest is Betsy Sauther, a Wiccan high priestess with over 30 years of experience leading people in circle-based ceremonies to celebrate the seasons of the earth, our lives and community.  Growing up in Western Washington, Betsy began to have a strong pull toward nature at a very young age, finding magic everywhere. Having held leadership roles in the Whatcom Pagans, Betsy has become a local go-to person for developing interest and connections within the pagan community. Betsy is a life long proponent of fostering supportive, loving, earth based spiritual growth and personal development. Betsy practices ritual magic, worship of both the feminine and masculine divine, and enjoys total delight and awe for the natural world while discovering the endless interconnections of all beings. She has trained and worked extensively in the fine arts, and currently Betsy works as an IT Specialist in Skagit County.

So if you’ve wondered about Wicca - what is it? what do they do? is it antithetical to traditional religious faith? - this is your night! It might be strange to hear of a church hosting an interview with a Wiccan high priestess, but at Echoes we value highly getting to know our neighbors. Being good neighbors involves building authentic community, and we are grateful that Betsy is choosing to spend an evening with us, the unusual Lutherans.

Location is the Old Parish Hall, 2116 Walnut St, which is made possible by St Paul’s Episcopal Church

A variety of snacks will be available; feel free to contribute!
