Our monthly Wild Church will gather safely outdoors to participate in a sacred water ceremony in solidarity with the Lummi tribe.

This week Lummi persons traveled to Miami in recognition of the 50th year of captivity for the orca held at Seaquarium. Lolita is the given english name; but her Coast Salish name is Sk’aliCh’elh-tenaut. The tribe continues to ask that Sk’aliCh’elh-tenaut will be able to return home to her sacred waters here in the Salish Sea. Together we will lift up our voices in solidarity with a water ritual saying “Bring Her Home”!

This past Thursday 9/24 was a livestream event of the initial water ceremony that the Lummi organized in and asked communities to join in. Please see the livestream from Facebook event here:

As with our monthly Wild Church experiences, we invite you to bring what will make your experience comfortable. Bring a journal, and a chair or blanket (if you would like to sit), we will engage in a time of conversation on the importance of allowing God’s creatures to live and flourish in their home territories.

We are following Whatcom County & Washington State safety COVID-19 Guidelines, so attendees must wear a mask and stand at least 6 ft apart from each other. We respectfully ask that you abide by these regulations to protect yourself and the community.

If you would like to participate in a water ceremony from your home, here is an example the Lummi provided that can be adapted to your context: https://vimeo.com/446225016?fbclid=IwAR3IX_W8Af17TEpv1J1JNZI3vQ58eIJY8KGzEb0-YrnGFFcZCvb22bnMljY
