Because getting to know our neighbors is a spiritual practice that helps us to dismantle assumptions we have that separate us from others, Echoes regularly welcomes a guest for a conversation - and we call it church! During these talks we get to know a bit about who this person is and how they are contributing to the life of Bellingham. We’re excited for our guest this April: Dr. Josh Cerretti!
Josh Cerretti is the Interim Director of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and an Associate Professor of History at Western Washington University. He teaches about sexuality, race, and gender in recent US history while conducting research that focuses on the problem of state violence. Dr. Cerretti is a board member of the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center and a delegate to the Northwest Washington Central Labor Council.
For the past few years Josh has led a walk in Bellingham that narrates some of the racist past of our town. Last November Josh put this experience in a video format. It’ll be helpful, but not mandatory to watch the video prior to ‘hamster church.
This conversation will be livestreamed on both our Facebook page and YouTube channel. There will be time for Q&A at the end. Feel free to join!!
