‘Hamster Church is our monthly opportunity to hear from a Belling’hamster to learn about their life, hear their stories and how they are contributing to the life of this city. This month we have a special guest from outside of Bellingham, Bishop Shelley Bryan Wee! She is the Bishop of our region, the Northwest Washington Synod, of Echoes’ denomination, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). In other words, she is OUR bishop!

The Reverend Shelley M. Bryan Wee has served as a pastor in ELCA since 1993, and was elected to become our region’s Bishop shortly before the pandemic started. Born in Oregon, she grew up in several states, and, after ordination with the ELCA, she served in several congregations and as a campus pastor at Eastern Washington University. She is the parent of two grown children, Katie and Daniel. Her interests include live theatre productions, walking her dogs, reading, gathering with family and friends, dancing, working out, and she is always ready to hear (and sometimes tell) a good story. (Bishop Shelley might also be dating a famous guy.)
