DUE TO COLD WEATHER WE ARE MOVING THIS GATHERING TO ZOOM/ONLINE!
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86411317048
We are in the last week before Christmas and perhaps your To-Do list is looking longer than you like. Maybe you're well laid plans at the beginning of the month are looking too daunting. Perhaps your just trying to stay healthy and attend to your self care and adding one more thing to your life just seems hard. Advent isn't about another things, it's about connecting during our waiting. So come and simply be.
We'll have a simple soup, scripture and song.
Come for community. Come for soup. Come because it's dark after work.
Just Come.
For the final week of Advent we will use images and words from Honest Advent (book by Scott Erickson). Honest Advent seeks to illuminate the astonishing, hope-filled truth that the God who showed up in the hardest parts of our humanity is still showing up today in those same places. Images can illuminate something words alone cannot, come and observe with your mind and your heart.
How can reading the story with different translations & new images help us engage Jesus' birth and God's forthcoming more deeply?
Through contemplative observations, sacred questioning, and honest prayers, you can make room for the sacred of God-with-Us, that is still happening today - in your unexpected change of plans, your unaccomplished dreams, your unforeseen message in the stars, your humble new beginnings.
We'll spend time together in Lectio-Divina with the birth story, as well as Visio-Divina with images that are meant to invoke new ways of seeing. This week we'll spend time with the location and the unusual (non family) individuals who show up at the birth of Jesus.
