Join Echoes for our monthly Creative Church where what is expressed by our hands (and heart) is recognized as a gift and counts as worship.
This month we are exploring “blackout” poetry. As the summer evening light begins to fade earlier and earlier, how can we utilize found words and make them have personal meaning? Blackout poetry is a form of poetry that allows you to express yourself by transforming any existing piece of text into a poem. What might we learn about ourselves, by taking written text from another piece of newspaper, magazine, book or text and let our true feelings arise to the surface. How can you free up your own creativity as you remix words into something entirely new?
We’ll provide the supplies (newspapers, book pages, markers, pens and scissors) and you provide the imagination to write with limited words and see where your creativity takes you.
Join us at the gazebo at Elizabeth Park for a time for creative self expression. Just bring yourself.
