Yearnings: Book Study & Conversation
Embracing the Sacred Messiness of Life
January 11-February 22 (Wednesdays)
@ 7-8pm on zoom
"Life can be messy and imperfect. We’re all looking for answers. And yet, as renowned rabbi Irwin Kula points out, the yearning for answers is no different now than it was in the times that gave rise to Moses, Buddha, and Jesus. Far from being a burden, however, these yearnings can themselves become a path to blessing, prompting questions and insights, resulting in new ways of being and believing."
Each Wednesday, January 11 through February 22, we will meet on Zoom from 7:00-8:00 p.m. to explore how Rabbi Kula’s offering of Jewish wisdom might enrich and inform our own messy experiences of living. Feel free to come to any or all sessions for whatever amount of time you might have available.
The "plan" is to discuss the subject of one “Yearning” each week:
January 11: Yearning for Love (pp. 3-37)
January 18: Yearning for Meaning (pp. 41-83)
January 25: Yearning for the Way (pp. 87-125)
February 1: Yearning for Love (pp. 129-179)
February 8: Yearning to Create (pp. 183-221)
February 15: Yearning for Happiness (pp. 225-262)
February 22: Yearning for Transcendence (pp. 265-306)
