We are delighted to host a film again for the Pickford Film Center’s Doctober documentary fest! We love this opportunity to support film, community and good storytelling all at the same time! Join Echoes as we watch this important film about how translations matter in the quest for justice for ALL! As a church that was founded at Bellingham Pride, we are proud to sponsor this film and hopefully spark conversation about biblical translation and its affects on not only culture & Christianity, but also individuals and communities.
So please join us for one of 2 showings of 1946 (The Movie) on
Sat, October 14th @ 2:40pm
or Tuesday, October 24th @ 2:45pm
1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture is a feature documentary that follows the story of tireless researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946.
Each October the Pickford showcases Doctober—a month-long documentary film festival dedicated to one of Bellingham’s proven favorite genres, the documentary. Doctober is the largest documentary festival in the Northwest, screening over 50 films in one month. For this festival the Pickford partners with local groups and organizations to bring important issues to the screen; many presentations feature special guests, filmmakers, pre-screening receptions, and guided group discussions.
