We’ll gather in person & on zoom for our annual Service Church to write letters and cards to folks who need it the most! If you’re able to join in person we’ll provide the cards (and mailing) for you to send notes of encouragement and hope to children and families seeking asylum this holiday season.

We will join forces with LIRS (Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service). This network has welcomed tens of thousands of new American individuals and families seeking safety and asylum. Many people claiming asylum come from the Northern Triangle, a region in Central America including Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. Additionally, in recent years, we have seen increasing numbers of people claiming asylum from places such as China, Mexico, Haiti, Cuba, India, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Brazil in addition to Afghanistan and Ukraine.
Our new neighbors have persevered through incredible challenges to get here—and while many are no longer in immediate danger, they are still navigating life in their new communities and the legal challenges of their parole or asylum status. Many have not been or will not be able to reunite with their families. During the holidays, your messages of hope and love, along with your generous donations to purchase gifts for the children in LIRS’s care, remind our friends that they are not forgotten.
At Echoes we believe that loving our neighbors and supporting them in their journey to wholeness is vital to following Jesus. Service Church indeed counts as worship as we come together to build community through letter writing! So if you want to come write cards of hope with us in person, or online, please join us!
