We will celebrate Earth Day 2023 by volunteering in Bellingham!
Join the more than 1 billion people worldwide who celebrate Earth Day by joining the City of Bellingham, WWU LEAD, Whatcom Million Trees Project, and Washington Trails Association for our annual Earth Day Community Work Party on Saturday, April 22nd from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Sehome Arboretum.
Together, we will be assisting LEAD's efforts in restoring habitat in a small section of the Sehome Arboretum by removing invasives and planting native trees and shrubs using the Miyawaki Method to re-create the conditions needed for a native forest to grow in decades, rather than centuries!
This event will conclude with free pizza donated by Papa Johns and closing remarks.
The work party will be followed by a talk with Hannah Lewis, the author of Mini-Forest Revolution.
All ages, abilities, and experience levels are welcome!
