'"Art is always created from ashes, from the ashes of our experience, of who we once were, which becomes lifeless, forgotten, anonymous, or futile, only if we fail to make something of it, to tend it, to care about it, to remember. "
—Heide Hatry

As the season of Lent is upon us (the 40 days before Easter) we have an opportunity to prepare our minds and hearts to attune to the beauty in change, transition and transformation. As we recollect the ancient stories and practices we take time to incorporate earth materials into our spiritual practices.

Remembering our belovedness as creatures of the earth can be a source of grounding in the tumultuous times we are in.

Lent is a time for us to return to our Creator who formed us from the dust of the earth. Our lives are finite, so we want to spend every precious moment in tune with God, living whole, abundant lives—the kind of lives we were created to lead. We’ve got a space and materials for you to embody through art and writing what kind of life you were created to live. Because we are just dust after all.

Come and make art with ashes.
Embody your belovedness in art.

No experience or artistic skills needed, just an open heart, mind and hands to accept what the Holy has for you.
