"The earth remembers and holds the stories of the past."
-Robin Wall Kimmerer
Join Echoes for our monthly Wild Church and experience the sacred that is already all around you, AS worship. Remember yourself, this place and the stories that are under your feet.
We’ll have time to wander through Whatcom Falls Park, along the creek, by the falls and under the trees of this special urban park. Gathering for reading, prayer, reflection and deep noticing while walking, our time together will be spent listening to the earth, its memories and this land we call home.
This is an all weather event, so we invite you to wear layers and bring what you need to be comfortable (Walking shoes, blanket, warm beverage, art & writing materials and or headlamp). The sun sets at 9:12pm, so we will have plenty of lingering light when we finish up around 8pm. Bring yourself. Bring your longings. Bring your prayers & presence as we prepare our hearts for summer at this place which carries many stories including those people and creatures that were lost during the Olympic Pipeline Explosion, along Whatcom Creek, 25 years ago.

25th Anniversary of the Olympic Pipeline Tragedy
It is the 25th Anniversary of the Olympic Pipeline Explosion, and earlier in the day an unveiling of a memorial sign will happen at the park by the Pipeline Safety Trust and City of Bellingham. At Wild Church we will take time to view the new interpretive signage in the park. There are many more events to commemorate this tragedy and to honor the memory of lives lost to ensure that something like this does not happen again.
You can find out more about upcoming events here.
