Holy Week is a time to reflect and Echoes invites you to a time of walking remembrance through downtown Bellingham.
Join Echoes for a Holy Week tradition as we embrace the wildness of this season and journey together on a Holy Wandering through downtown Bellingham.
This outdoor gathering (rain or shine) invites us to pause and reflect on the sacred story of Jesus’ last days, connecting his story to the place we call home. Holy Week is a Christian tradition honoring Jesus’ final seven days on earth, beginning with a processional in Jerusalem and culminating on the cross at Golgotha. Just as Jesus’ ministry was firmly rooted and shaped by the city and region he lived in, we are invited to love our cities (including Bellingham) and the people who dwell in them.
During our wandering, we will explore sacred scriptures and reflect on questions of faith and place:
How does the city cultivate your ideas of God?
How can our bodies help us more deeply understand the hopes and challenges of the city we share?
How do we make space to grieve what we’ve lost over the past year, including favorite shops, restaurants, and places in Bellingham?
Come join Echoes for this yearly tradition of Holy Wanderings through our beloved sanctuary, Bellingham.
Meet at Lutheran Community Services NW - 925 Forest Street Bellingham, WA 98225, you can park in the parking lot across the street. We’ll prepare ourselves for a 1.25 mile walk around town.
We’ll get some food downtown afterwards, let us know if you are planning on joining up with us along our walk, or afterwards!
